Suggestion to Help Mission #5
My few attempts for Mission #5 felt easier now I knew what to do. It's always fun to siege your opponent whenever you can, but sometimes you have to sacrifice a piece(s) in order to take the castle. In this case, your fortifications. Here's what I did to complete mission #5 in about 30 minutes. Apologies for making this long, I didn't want to leave out anything since I've been reading others who have trouble to be victorious.

1) Did you know you earn more income than your opponent does? It's true; by adding your bases (90 x 3 = 270) and your opponent's (120 x 2 = 240), you actually have the advantage. Plus with Rome as it's nation, you can add more gold per minute (GPM) if you want. Sure it's a crawl, but that is kind of the point on mission 5. The idea is you surround your opponent by blocking all passage ways to escape, no supplies could get through, and you let time go by till they surrender. THIS IS ANOTHER METHOD TO WIN. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE! However that isn't any fun way to win.

2) Speaking of which, you can take the castle once you have the resources (strength in numbers, gold to spend, and upgrade all that you have except for repairing the castle gate faster). Believe or not, the green army will only attack your front base (Flag A) and with the narrow pathway to your camp, you can block them from there with your defenders firing their javelins (at least that is what I think they're using).

2A) To set up your base, have 6 defenders at Flag A and 4 defenders at Flags B & C and the rest be your mobile infantry to move from campsite to campsite to reinforce. As long as you stay at the center, you'll have a good amount of time to reach to your camps once enemy reinforcements arrive and your defenders fend off the intruders once you arrive.

2B) About the Army Upgrade...I'd go for increasing your unit occupation, get your standard, and upgrade your standard's main sign to Attack Speed. These reasons are getting my numbers up and as long as the Standard is with you, you'll earn experience and can spend them on your army. Here is the list I would choose after the following three in this particular order:

i. Standard Horn Cooldown
ii. Standard Respawn Time
iii. Missiles 1
iv. Hero Respawn Time
v. Standard Horn Duration Increase
vi. Missiles 2
vii. Missile Cooldown
viii. Legionnaires
ix. Flag Heal/Flag Protection Aura (Don't matter what goes first here)
x. Gate Crasher
xi. Gate Repair Time

Note: The list is an idea if you don't know what to upgrade first. You are always welcome to change it anyway you want.

2C) Funny really; you're playing defense when you should be aggressive, however you're not strong enough. Not yet. The Standard's Main Signs for Gold Per Minute and Capture Flag I choose not to pick because you are already winning the gold race and capturing flags is all about speed and that is not the case for mission #5. One more thing, for the aura effect with your Standard, you'll want to get nothing but DMG and AS.

3) Now we march to the castle wall! Make sure you have at least 750 Gold, your level is above a 4, and kill your defenders at Camp A and replace them with Legionnaires. Use the turtle formation to best protect you and your squad from being massacred from green's defenders. If no opposing army is in front of the gate, go ahead and take their flag; however, if they're there, retreat and make up your losses at the gate and let the green army come. Once you taken them out, then go for capture the Flag D.

Get a good foot hold of the captured flag by taken out the green's defenders and retaliate the counter attack from the green's army until they no longer spawn at the last flag within the castle. To do this, you'll need to push deep in the castle so he won't respawn there (Flag F). At this time, it's possible reinforcements will show up. If so, it might by you time to try to capture the last flag within the castle because you still have defenders at Flags C and B. As silly it may sound, you want them to capture your campsites because there is a limit of occupation you can have. By having them take out your defenders, then you can increase your squad's numbers to help benefit taking the castle down and claim it yours. If the reinforcements take the flag in front of the gate, then don't worry. Reinforcements only spawn outside of the castle walls and only the green can use them. Not to mention the green's funding will be low.

The rest should be a lot easier now; the retaliation might be epic because they want their castle back. The narrow gateway is a great spot destroying your enemies. I'm sure we're thinking about the blockbuster film 300 right? Once the pathway is clear, make 12 defenders at the castle so they can devastate them. With the rest of your Legionnaires, retake the outside camps by attacking either campsites B or C and make your way through an arc. ROMA VICTOR!!!

Hope this guide helps others be victorious. Remember if you ever play, have a good game.

I had tremendous luck beating this level on 10th try. As the game starts I spawn at B just to see that Vercingetorix sallies out alone(!) to get A. I quickly gathered my army and went for the fort, taking it entirely.

Then accidentally bought 8 defenders for D instead of 5 intended, and green came back to fight. Enemy reinforcements arrived too but only at A and B so I had 3 flags against their 2. I choose the damage standard, and after levelling up only DMG it was a massacre. Finally sallied out to take all flags in a cake walk.
