I don't think it could've went worse (my 2nd was GBFV Rising and while it's playable it has plenty of it's own issues... wth ArcSys).
Nah, I don't think that the game could hold out in it's current state balance-wise assuming other issues were solved or dealt with properly.
Game is just too boring once you start to know what to do - nothing but the same combo loops over and over and most matches are 2-touch or 3-touch at most. It's simply boring, whether you are the one combo'ing or being combo'd.
A shame, really, since the game looks amazing, sounds just as good (though music is much worse compared to bangers from GG, BB or even GBFV). It's also my favourite fighting game to move around main menu in - it all feels so snappy and responsive! xD
But DNF already has rollback xD
It's netcode is really good assuming you don't try to play across continents (I had terrible time trying player matches against NA players but maybe I was also unlucky enough to play against wifi ppl that got game for free on epic).
Also I'm definitely not spending any more money on this game. Rising already is reused assets sold for full price (and even then PC version is technically priced higher since we didn't get GBF codes). This is probably the only game in my quite sizeable game library on steam that I didn't buy any DLCs for (and I think I'd really enjoy Brawler or Battle Mage).
Glad they finally had this free trial though. It was something I suggested to them back in November. Been wanting to see what the buttons were like. I won't say this game is bad. I'm just bad at fighting games and I have such sour grapes over that.
