Arcsys are stretching themselves way too thin
Now with like 4 active games the player base is all fractured and they're all dead. Except fighterz though.

Strive charts are above Fighterz
https://steamcharts.com/cmp/1384160,678950
Arcsys is the only developer having 2 successfull fighting games at the same time.

However, there are more and more fighting games with rollback netocde on Steam market and they tend to canibilize a bit each others by splitting their playerbases.
We can tell this by checking back when BBCF had rollback implemented as a beta test, it peaked at 4733 players back then 1 year ago, while for GGRev2 rollback it only peaked at 3413.
I would have guessed that with GG being now a known IP and Rev2 charts being on par with BBCF in 2020 before Strive was a thing then Rev2 charts would be higher than BBCF charts during rollback beta but this didn't happen that way.

We can also see that there are only 5 games having charts high enough to be playable without queuing for a long time, despite so many fighting games on the market. It's not that other fighting games are not good, it's just that the global fighting game community is not big enough to split between so many fighting games.

Maybe on PC but on PS5 fighterz lobbies are full and strive tends to have 5 or less lol.

side-note: DNF is barely an Arcsys game. Lazy game journalists always namechecked ArcSys when bothering to cover DNF Duel - and I'm sure it's because DNF has ArcSys's signature animation style - but 8ing was the primary developer. ArcSys just did character modeling and animation. This detail isn't widely publicized, but sitting through the game credits makes it clear who was responsible for what.

Like I said, it's not widely publicized, so it's nbd. Most people assumed this was an ArcSys game, and nobody involved in the making of DNF ever corrected them :p. Now that I'm thinking about it, the last time I remember 8ing doing ANY FORM of marketing was... E3 2020, where they showed off Bloody Roar 3 :p. One of the developers messed me up real good :p

8ing is also responsible of MVC3 and TVC, being 2 great fighting games. DNF conversion system is also heavily inspired of TVC baroque system. 8ing is far from being a bad fighting game developer, even a pretty good one.

Regarding who did what between 8ing and ASW, yes it looks like gameplay was on 8ing side but that might be all. Graphics and also netcode both have ASW touch.

right, but the point is that 8ing seems to avoid the spotlight. I've never known them to be very communicative, or indulge in any form of community management. Things that would've helped DNF a lot.

Makes sense because this did not feel like an arcsys fighter at at all... Look and feel did but the gameplay was nothing like arcsys other games.
