Why do the controls suck?

It seems like I can't steer properly in this game. I'm using a keyboard setup and, quite frankly, the keys are too sensitive to properly control my cars. By this I mean that by steering either left or right, by pushing a key very lightly, my car, more often than not, jolts sideways and costs me mph.

Can I really only play this game by utilizing a controller? The keyboard setup just doesn't work, and don't even get me started about trying to use my mouse.

The game was designed with a console controller in mind, not a keyboard. I understand how you feel, it's very frustrating and yes, using a controller is probably the only way you'll have fun playing this game. You can use and Xbox 360 controller, a PS3 controlleror even a simple Logitech controller for this game.

I've never used a controller. Mouse steering in this game is better than keyboard steering in any other game.

You can't "push lightly" a keyboard. Either you push a button or you don't, it's digital. Analog control is far superior for racing games. Imagine trying to drive a real car, and you could only steer by turning the wheel completly to the left of right with no middle ground.

You can push a key lightly. But you’re right, when it comes to sensitivity a gamepad is superior, but on other hand the keyboard is better in hand with its keys.

i cant seem to figure out the controls even with a controler. i remeber when i had the game on the xbox the triggers were the gas but on here its the buttons. not only that but the buttons are also wrong. i need to press x instead of A to enter the game. x is the gas and Y is reverse. ontop of that theres no break button to be heard of and there also isnt a buton to flash the highbeams to start races. also when i switch a keyboard and turn i actually turn hard enough to go into a drift but on the controller i cant drift at all with out hitting the revers button, but that also brings my speed down to 0

theres no option to map the controls they just let me change from keyboard to mouse to controller i dont see any other options

I don't have this installed anymore, but I am sure I remapped the controller. It's possible I was using Xpadder though. Try that if you need, but I'm sure it was in the in game options.
