Stuck on Save Screen - PLEASE HELP

I noticed multiple posts with the same problem but it was never resolved. The game gets stuck while freezing and I have to alt-f4. It doesn't really freeze, music and physics carry on. But it says saving until I close the game. It does in fact save, but then it never moves on.

I tried:
-Patch
-compatibility mode: XP SP1, 2, 3, win2000
-Run as admin

I'm running on windows 7 64b and everything else works great, please assist...

I am also experiencing this same problem. Works great until I win any race or try to save changes to settings. Green 'SAVING' text with traffic flowing "normally" and all my controls are locked. Alt + F4. Load game. Next race.

Damn, was hoping the switch to win10 would help. This is so lame, I've had it work fine on windows 7 before. I tried my disc version, too. I just want to know what's causing it.

I'm on Windows 10 64-bit, no problem here.
1. Run the game as Administarator.
2. Try to change compatibility of mc2.exe in Propertiers (for example, to Windows XP).

I upgraded to win10 and the problem is gone.

Just dropping in to report the solution: if you're getting stuck on the "saving" message, whether in the menus or in-game, your CPU is clocked too high for the game. The only solution I can find right now is to drop the clock of your CPU to 2.5GHz via the BIOS or overclocking tool of your choice. It's not elegant, but it works.
