Dropping or Destroying items?
Am I missing an obvious way to drop or delete items from my inventory to free up space, while out adventuring? Some areas don't let you portal out to town so, sorta stuck. /sadface

While inn inventory, on keyboard, press the [D] key. The more rare the item is, the longer you need to hold the key down to delete the item. (So you can back out before you accidentally delete a Legendary...)

Edit: ok, found it; apparently, its a hover-over the item & press D. As a 1-handed disabled long-time player of ARPGs, including both prev Torchlights etc, not being able to drag-n-drop items to destroy or drop on the ground with mouse-control is very awkward. Perhaps this is just an 'alpha/beta' thing & will get fixed or added soon?

Hmmm. That would be tough, agreed. I know we can rebind some keys, any chance you have a gaming mouse with extra buttons, that you could rebind the [D] key to? Though with them adding WASD movement to the game (why?), that might cause troubles too.

Accessibility with this game... yeah, that's an issue. Maybe email the devs and ask for some Accessibility options to be added? Even a button on the hotbar on the left, like the portal button is on the right might work?

Yeah, checked for the key-rebind idea to swap 'D' to something else but Destroy isnt even listed as a hotkey function w/an attached key.

Am working on a QOL/Accessibility post as I play & find things that need addressing. Thx muchly for the fast & friendly replies IFIYGD!

Accessibility it s thing for me as well. So, yeah. I am interested in seeing games become more playable for more people.

Much better if games are made with Accessibility in mind from Day 1 than trying to go back and retrofit it in down the road.

But... workarounds, we find them if we can. Have you looked into voice commands, if you have a headset with a mic? Even through Windows OS options? Not ideal, at all. But as a workaround, for now. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. (Used it with a mashed together third party voice command program to play The Long Dark and Grim Dawn (a piano build even...) when I was one handed for a few months following major shoulder surgery). It worked, but wasn't ideal.

Drag and drop into a trash bin in the inventory menu would be a great option, that wouldn't leave the screen cluttered with dropped items. And would be useful to everyone as well.

These call outs on Accessibility are super helpful folks, thank you! I'm sharing this thread with the folks who work on UI/Controls (they're the ones that made skill buttons click-able for mouse hand play). Also looking forward to seeing minahh71's forthcoming post!

Thx @Echtra -- the easiest thing to do imo would be to make the text options that pop up under the inventory window (that show D = destroy) etc, to be a mouse clickable option, or to add right-click context menus when clicking on an item in your inventory. Takes me awhile to type heehee, but post being drafted as I discover stuff that might need tweaks.

you could try autohotkey and ask somebody to create a script that uses a more convient key so for example maybe you tell it everytime you hit numberpad 0 key it sends a d instead

that might be a work around temporarily

For those of us with two working hands, sure. AHK is always an option.

The OP is a one-handed gamer, looking for mouse-only playability.

Never ever underestimate the capabilities of those "handicapped".

That was even the opening run of Summer Games Done Quick 2017.
This is a one handed gamer finishing Nier Automata in less than two hours, with only one hand.
That the developer allowed full rebinding of the controller keys was certainly helpful.

I do hope that the game will allow more customizability for controls, so that everyone can enjoy this game.

I just thought as long as he's got one good hand he might be able to use it like I did when my left hand was paralyzed for 10 months. I used it to remap keys that needed to be pressed on the left side of the keyboard to keys on the right side
