Have your second sproot gather spiky mushrooms until you get thorns, research thorns to combine with sticks from the dry biome to make spears. Then you can hunt earthworms for meat easily.
I wish they could drink water from more locations or get it from their wet food.
Using ladders you can cut down the starter area trees, and combined with resin which come from glue worms you can make watering cans, which will allow your sproots to travel farther distances. I'd also suggest if its raining to take exploration into consideration.
It's surprising how a game like this doesn't yet have a wiki, but just like past sproots we may provide knowledge for future players along the line. (You can teach sproots about "technology" by having a sproot with a research item and hover over another sproot, similar to giving items - I'd carefully choose what to teach and not teach, sokpop also has a theme of not letting games pause and have a quick pace).
2. I have my hunters take 2 spears to try to kill the big bugs even after they steal a spear
3. Pots are super important.
4. Never mess with flea scouts unless you have gold combat skills across the board and a backup spear.
5. the water pack is super useful for explorers/hunters get it by maxing stick research to get ladder, build ladder on stem w/ big leaf, harvest and research big leaf, craft with leaf and resin
I managed 80 "days" (the the game crashed :D ) without attacks of those white flea thingies as I hunted them down as soon as I've found them somewhere around the areas, not close to the camp. They aren't as many as to begin with; it seems they multiplied when they'd get to your camp - and then you may say good bye to berry bushes... but to hunt them down if it's only four or five of them seems pretty suffient! I literally had too much food, didn't even need to harvest the mushrooms or anything.
To be honest you must be lucky to stumble over them, to begin with.
Sooo, did anyone find out what to do with the thorn trap? How can I use / build it? I've already tried so many things.
Also, I'm quite curious about what to do with the farmable land you can find in small patches on the brown soil biome.
I think the thorn traps might be dropped down on the ground, but don't take my word for it. I have a feeling that the yams you find under rocks might be related to the farmable land and that farmable land could be similar to heat vents, requiring some sort of item.
Yams and seeds (if you can find them, I've only found one lot of squash) are able to be planted in the farmable land for 1-4 return.
I find the thorn trap is best used closer to the base camp as when it sets off it shoots its components out, so you need to be quick to grab not only the meat from whatever bug set it off but the components to make it again before the big bugs steal it. You just need to select it and click drop to place it somewhere.
If you can find the abandoned camp soonish you can study the leaves without building a ladder as theres already one set up there. Then you can make the waterbag early and explore more. Also is good to check whatever pots you come across.
