Softlocked due to poor level design? (ch 5 spoilers)
During Chapter 5 there's this part where you have to destroy the red plant spore things with your charged bark, to raise the water levels (right after the part with all the black goop). anyways there's this button that opens a door, and the idea is that you are suppose to stand on it and do your little out of body spirit fox thing, to go through the door and destroy the spore thing (to give a better image of where I am, you raise the water level once, and then you are able to get on this part of land that has one of those spirit story murals, and then a broken building thing with the button in it). But I didn't see that right away, and instead thought I was suppose to use the super charge to get the spore that was on a broken like bridge thing across the way from where I was standing near the button, before doing the button door one. But because I killed that spore first. The water level is too high, and now I'm unable to move forward and have to restart from my last save because I cant get that last spore behind the door. I'm able to press the button, but you can't do your little out of body fox thing while in water. I really think that this is a big oversight in the level design. So far since you got the ability to do your spirit dash, there's been alot of different platforming puzzles and things you use it with, so I didn't think it was weird to spirit dash across that gap. And you actually see the spore across the water on that broken bridge like thing before you see the door and the button, because you are swimming from the last spore you broke, and you swim up and usually you would get on that part of the land where the mural is because it is nearest to the last spore you broke, and it catches your attention first, then you see the spore on the other side of the water, and then finally you would see the door and button after seeing all of that other stuff first. So I really thought I was suppose to do the other one first before doing the one with the door and button because it was the first one I saw. If you aren't suppose to do the one not behind the door first, they should of made it so there was no way to access it beforehand so you wouldn't get softlocked,

Hah, yeah. That one got me as well. Had to quit out and restart that section.
It just amused me that I was able to break the game by using foxy's superb parkour skills.

I got stuck in chapter two where we did all the water works. Got stuck in the pit with the body and the two key stones with no light energy or flowers to charge up my light energy.

If you are at the part I'm thinking of, then one of the two stones should be lit. All you need to do is to move the light from one stone to the other IIRC.

Apparently this is still an issue today. I just experienced this during my first play.

It’s crazy that they never fixed that oversight. Like maybe fix the broken things in your game before making a sequel. I never ended up finishing the game because of little broken game parts like that
