Anyone know why MH2 was never on steam?

I know the game was available on PC on places like Amazon, but it got delisted a very long time ago.

I know the PC version of Manhunt 2 was completely uncensored, so was that the issue, or was Rockstar too lazy to make it widely available?

I doubt Manhunt 1 even made that much in profit since it's still a niche franchise for Rockstar's standards, but I really never assumed that Manhunt 2 failed that badly, makes sense though because it was banned everywhere pretty much.

They cared more about even the PSP audience than PC. The fact that it never got a Steam release was never surprising to me.

It must of sold well enough to do a 2nd game though, i remember everybody was talking about it when it came out. Also some people were blaming manhunt for a murder/s that happened, high age rating, and your right banned in places.

I got it on my PSP, need to play through it again to know for sure if the game is worse than the first one. First one i enjoyed.

It was ported to PC and sold on Amazon DRM free but the game was mired in controversy, being banned in a lot of places. Seeing the poor reception and release issues, R* probably didn't bother.

Would’ve been great if the game was on GOG, they have a game preservation program that ensures old games work on new hardware. Rockstar desperately needs that for their games

Manhunt 2 has AO rating. Nobody released an AO rated game on Steam before Hatred.

since the thread was bumped, I'll say that I wasn't seeking out for a copy of the game, I already know where to find the PC version and own a PSP copy.

I don't know, but my guess is because it was a generally inferior game to the first, not received too well by anyone, didn't sell well, so I guess it's just not worth the bother.

Manhunt 2 saw massive controversy when it released.
Receiving an Adults Only rating, causing it to be removed from stores and at that time, Steam would not sell AO rated games.

Rockstar censored the kills in an attempt to get a M rating, and the game was sold briefly through Amazon and Rockstar's own store. But it never appeared on Steam.
It has since been delisted everywhere.


The annoyance that now Steam sells basically porn. But Manhunt 2 is still not available.
