Melee combat tips for mandatory combat segments?
How do I avoid getting my ass kicked when the game forces me into melee combat? What kinda works is spamming a quick attack (left mouse) and then going for a grapple (left + right mouse at the same time), but NPCs swing faster than I can.

Two occasions where I get forced into melee combat are the first level at the basketball court, and the level where the guy with a crowbar jumps around a corner. In both cases, going for quick attacks and grapples kinda works, but I get beaten up pretty badly.

Is there a more efficient way to fight people when the game forces me to do so?

Walk backwards, that's it.

i know this is very late but this is what works for me:

try to keep your distance from the hunter as much as you can, once you're ready you need to run at them and perform 3 heavy attacks on the hunter. try to make sure the first hit connects right as you get in melee range of the hunter, and quickly back off once the combo is over. repeat until they're down on the ground.

blue melee weapons are really inconsistent for this (except for the Knife), so you're better off executing the hunter holding the Baseball Bat before you reach the combat encounters, as it's one of the deadliest melee weapons in the game.

oh and you probably already know this but don't even bother fighting if there's more than one hunter after you, just run and hide somewhere.

i hope this helps in some way, i'm not the best at responding to people's questions
