4:3 aspect ration on a widescreen monitor?
I've heard from others that choosing a 4:3 aspect ration when you have a widescreen monitor puts black bars on the side of the screen, preserving the proportions of the game. This is not the case for me. When I choose a 4:3 aspect ration with the Widescreen setting Off, it stretches the picture to the sides of my monitor, distorting everything; wit the Widescreen setting On, the game world is fixed, but the HUD remains stretched.

Is there a way to play this in 4:3, with black bars to preserve the proportions?

The only other options I can think of are these:

1. Play it in widescreen using that one widescreen fix mod. That fixes the HUD and widens the FOV nicely, but it requires me to downgrade to v1.00 (not v1.01) and introduces some minor graphical glitchery; for example, a little twitch whenever CJ lowers a one-handed weapon, and the blackness around the sniper rifle crosshair coming one pixel short of the side of the screen.

2. Play it in windowed mode using d3d9.dll. This could work, but if there's anyway to go fullscreen with black bars, I would prefer that.

Any help?

Check your gpu & monitor to disable any scaling & fit to screen options.

Thank you. My GPU was already set to scale by aspect ratio, but all I had to do was change "Perform scaling on:" from "Display" to "GPU," and everything worked. Even other older games like Morrowind can be played 4:3 now. One graphical glitch remains: when I use a sniper rifle, the black screen still leaves a one-pixel "border" around the top and left, which is a smidge distracting. Any idea why this is, and if there's a fix?

EDIT: The map screen leaves a "border" as well.
