GTA SA Steam Version +Mods (GGMM)

Hi Everyone!
Did anybody of you tried to get mods to steam version of game? For example with GGMM (Garage model manager), for geting some model of car into game, it not works with steam version, and after any change of game files, game crash and Steam has to re-download it again (about 500MB).
So it looks like I have to install the illegal version for using these mods (which I don't want of course, but there is no way, and these are so many nice models of cars, which give to the game whole new look).

Maybe it's a directory problem but I have the same probs.

But with some people we agreed, that Steam version of SA is not good for modifications, so I had to install an *YOU KNOW* version...
