[False alarm] Suddenly... Securom DRM listed in requirements! WTF Rockstar?
"Other Requirements: Software installations required including DirectX and Sony DADC SecuROM"

Downloading now to see if it was added or not...

Yes, that's correct. Under "Minimum:".

Uh actually does say securom on store page...?

Blech. I'm sick of DRM but it's not going to do much against piracy and is just another example of PC users getting the short end of the stick. If someone is going to purchase the game they'll purchase, if not they won't and DRM isn't going to make freeloading pirates suddenly purchase the game. They'll wait months or even years for a crack so they don't have to buy the game.

DRM and more especially DRM on top of DRM is just an annoying headache for legitimate users more so when dealing with the likes of activation limits, Uplay and Origin on top of Steam.

So Securom wasn't present in the original Steam release? Odd as that seems to be the norm for big publishers releasing their games on Steam.

No.
did you check if it was indeed in? i can check but not sure where to look.

According to this http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_San_Andreas the retail version had SecuROM. Not the steam version.

I checked the registry and no signs of securom so maybe it was a mistake.

The latest EXE provided by the patch is actually DRM free according to what Silent told me. So it is a rather curious case of Rockstar doing things backwards, it DID used to have SecuROM, and wasn't mentioned on the page, and now it DOESN'T, but it is now listed on the page?? Just another shining example of Rockstar's care for their older games ;)

I checked, it indeed seems to be a mistake. Can't find any trace of Securom:

thank god.

Strange though if sites claim that San Andreas has Securom when the retail or any other version doesn't require a CD-Key or Online Authentication.

Just checked the internet archive. It seems the line was added to the system requirements somewhere in 2013. It wasn't there on Jan 5th 2013, but on Dec 30th 2013 it was there.
