As Silent said, check GInput mod. It has everything you need to play with controller.
Have you gone into the options and changed from 'Mouse + Keyboard' to 'Joypad'? Keep everything default and it will play very well.
Some of the functions of the analogue sticks are a little clunky but what do you expect for a game of such age?
No problem, it's working now. But yes the mod is needed.
But I can't seem to peddle fast on bikes... tapping A does nothing.
