Problem with refresh rate
How do I launch the game with 144 hz refresh rate? Because right now it starts with 60 hz refresh rate, but my windows is set on 144 hz. It's not a problem in other games, only this, it seems. A temporary fix is to minimize the game and change it back to 144 hz in Windows CP, but I'm looking for a permanent fix. It's very frustrating.

Useful info about my setup & game version:
Windows 10 (latest updates installed), Nvidia graphics card (latest drivers installed), GTASA v1.0 (Clean install, no mods installed except for SA:MP)

Doesn't work for me. It continues to open at 60Hz instead of 155Hz.

Maybe you're meant to play the game at 60Hz and It changes?

There is a .asi mod that does that, it's called RefreshRateFixByDarkP1xel32.ASI. To run this .asi file, u also need Silent's ASI Loader, to run this fix.
RefreshRateFixByDarkP1xel32.ASI. - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hq_jIGxhI9Y52kQZyabfkn4lVqPP2phH/view?usp=sharing
ASI Loader - https://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=21709
The RefreshRateFixByDarkP1xel32.ASI will be identified as a virus (if u have the windows defender active), but it's not because i've used it many times.
If the mod doesn't work, u have to downgrade the game first (have'nt test it on the original steam version)

how the f does that even work, the asi doesnt have a .ini to actually tweak the refresh rate, you're so stup1d

Open Regedit, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw", make a dword called ForceRefreshRate with a decimal value of 144. Do the same in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw". This will force all older games to work at 144 Hz (DX10 and below).

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
