News Choppers During Wanted Level

Sooooo I've been playing this since it came out in 2004 (literally grew up with it) and one thing kinda makes me wonder. So I'm going to be honest, I use the GTA: Underground mod significantly more than I play the game vanilla so if this was a UG addition, apologies, and completely disregard the post, but I've been noticing news choppers when you're at 5-6 stars chilling in the sky as other helicopters fly around. That said, I have no idea what purpose they actually serve as they don't fire at you and take 1 of the 2 helicopter slots at those high levels if you don't take them down, effectively reducing difficulty immensely. Do they make it harder at all or stop the ability to go down in level on your own if they're around? Genuinely curious if someone has an answer.

Well yeah, I figured they'd want to watch, for sure, but like, I didn't know if they served a real purpose other than mercifully taking up a helicopter slot in the game's programming since they kinda, you know, dont shoot you.

For sure. Glad to have confirmation that it was always there though, I don't remember seeing it back when I was a kid playing the PS2 version, but while I have a copy on my phone since the actual Android port doesn't work on Galaxy S22s, I haven't gotten 6 stars unlocked, so I'll take your word for it. 😅

I always did love those tiny little details Rockstar threw into this game though, like the minut dialogue changes when you're poor or rich, what clothes you have on, if you're skinny/muscular/fat, if you have clothes on, and what kind of car you got, respect levels, all that. It was a magnum opus that while they have tried, I don't think they ever really struck that gold again (yet).
