Can't install GTA: San Andreas

I just bought GTA: San Andreas and when i try to install it, something immediately comes up and says "An error occurred while installing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (invalid platform)". I have windows 8.1 is it just that it doesn't work on 8.1 and never told me or is it my hardware or what? I would appreciate help with my problem so i can start playing San Andreas. Thanks!

Steam has 2 downloads of san andreas, one for windows, and the other for mac. in your library.

wow it works for me on windows 8 im on windows 8 and it installs and works perfectly

I guess when I hit install games it automatically tried the Mac version instead of windows
