Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Crashes on Startup
Ok, here's the problem. Whenever I try to start Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it just crashes two seconds later. I only get to see a black screen, nothing else. I tried the possible solutions I constanlty see. Changing compatibility mode, running as administrator, deleting the gta_sa.set file (which I never found), reinstalling, etc. Does anyone have any other ideas? I need to know.

My computer specs are:

Processor: AMD E-300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics

Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit

PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS DISCUSSION UNLESS YOU ARE TRYING TO HELP!

Thanks.

I can't have any later ones? I have DirectX 11.0.

you never found the .set? did you look in both public and your documents for it? it should be with your saves. Direct x 11 might be your problem since GTASA is such a dated game now. You can type "-dxlevel 90" in the launch options for other games, but I'm not positive it would work for GTA. worth a shot a guess.

I never did find .set. You only find it if you successfully played the game previously. I never got to play. Just a black screen. I also switched DirectX versions, but I still got nowhere.

I have the same problem. I tried everything I could find on the internet. Run as Admin, in compatibility mode, added missing .gxt Files but nothing works.

I had never any problems with old games on steam just GTA is acting up (GTA3 and ViceCity too)

Try adding gta sa exe to DEP
1. Open the Start menu, in the search box type "advanced system
settings".
2. One result will appear, click it.
3. In the window that opens, click the Advanced tab, then the first Settings button
4. Go to the "Data
Execution Prevention" tab, and click "Add..." to
add an exception.
5. Browse to your gta-sa.exe and select it.
6. Click "OK" all the dialogs until they're closed

I started having this problem recently. I fixed it by going into the game folder and setting "gta-sa" to run in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/Me".
