Gray Imports Crash

As soon as I get into a car after the cut scene at the start of the mission the game crashes to desktop - why?

Do you have any plugin or mod that modifies the scripts of the cars (not referring to minor tweaks like fixes or skins)? Because I have a vehicle flip CLEO plugin that prevents the car I'm driving from going on fire when flipped, and that can cause my game to crash for some missions.

I just had one of the ps2 restoration mod packs. I fixed the problem by starting the mission then running most of the way (I guess I just had to go far enough away to spawn new cars) to the objective on foot then hijacking something at random. Will see if this bug crops up again...
