Black Screen after pressing Esc after loading game

I load the game, CJ is in the house, I can't move the mouse. If I press esc it gets me black screen and I can t close the game or the menu.

Have you downgraded the game to version US 1.0 and also installed silent patch ?, it fixes tons of issues with the game.

Sorry for the necro but I saw over on reddit that if you change the cpu affinity for the game and disable cores 0 and 3, it should work. Tried it on my own installation and it fixed that error for me.

I had the same issue. What worked for me is when you press ESC, and you get that black screen, press your Windows icon on your keyboard and then go to restart. Select restart. However, before your PC/laptop completes the restart, click cancel. Reload the game and it should work.
