Modding in Version 1.0 does not work
Hello community,
I bought the Steam version of GTA SA a few days ago and wanted to mod the game. I downloaded a auto installing modpack called "real cars 2 for GTA SA v 1.1" which comes with an exe. After reading the README file I found out that it only works with version GTA SA V1.0.

So I downgraded the Steam version to V 1.0 with the recommended tool from the steam community. And I followed the whole tutorial (installed silentpatch and silent asi loader). After that the game did neither start via steam, nor with any of the exes (gta-sa.exe and gta_sa.exe).

After installing the modpack the game starts again, the GTA_sa.exe starts with v 1.01 which in my opinion is wrong and the silent patches dont work with it. If I load a savegame or start a new game it crashes after the loading bar is full.

With using the gts-sa.exe it crashes after the blue rockstar logo is sprayed during the start...

Did I miss something in downgrading or installing or is it just not working out well with auto installing modpacks?

Thanks a lot!

because the car pack is stupid, don't use car packs.

Modding does work, not all mods do though, most do. I'd avoid automatic installers for mods since they can break your game and remove all your mods and cause this. Just do manual installations into ModLoader.

Remove your gta_sa.set

Try changing compatibility to 98/Me

removing the gta_sa.set was successfull and is actually listed in the instructions when browsing about potential crashes of the game... Now I am rather stuck after adding 8 vehicles :D

Which type of file are the mods? If they are .cs, .cleo or .fxt you will need a CLEO Library installed.

i have Cleo installed and currently just running a verhicle spawner with it... the bigger problem are cars... for example everytime i enter my modded clover textures stop loading an the world becomes "invisible"...

Does the stability of the game rely on the amount of mods or on the quality of the mods?

I don't know much but I would bet on the quality. Of course, your mod could have some missing files.

Bit late to the party, but this issue is usually due to using reshade or an ENB with san andreas.
