Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Y-axis sensitivity problem
My y-axis mouse sensitivity is far too high and the sensitivity options only affect my x-axis sensitivity. I either have to play with a ridicilously high sensitivity or have my screen bobbing up and down uncontrollably while I try to aim for something that isn't the ground or the sky.

Does anybody know of a way to fix this?

Yeah this is a really stupid bug that exists on all PC versions. You will have to keep your in-game sensitivity on the default (halfway full), and then change your DPI or your Windows sensitivity to match it. It's really annoying. I think SilentPatch fixes this, but not sure. There is definitely a mod that fixes this though.

There is a mod that fix it
It was released a few days ago :)
You can download it from here[gtaforums.com]
EDIT: SilentPatch tries to fix this issue, but the only one that fix it the right way is this new one

I can't change my DPI, Windows mouse sensitivity doesn't have any noticeable effect and I can't use any of the mod fixes since cleo crashes the game immediately.

You have to downgrade your game to v1.00.

I already have v1.00. so I don't think that's the problem.

Hmm, not sure why it's crashing then. I created my own fix for this that doesn't require any mods, but it's quite hacked together and it might not even work. It worked for me I think, but it might not work for you, because I never intended to actually share it.

So, you'll need to install a program called AutoHotKey to use this. If you don't want to do this, let me know and I'll give you a version of my fix that doesn't require it (but that version has to be compiled, meaning you can't edit the script yourself to change the sensitivity).

After you've installed it, download my fix here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qy7o4kjsomeiznb/YFixSA.zip. Open it and extract the YFixSA folder wherever you want. Now right-click "start.bat" and click "edit". Change the directory on the 4th line to match wherever you put the folder. Now, run "start.bat" and the game should open with the sensitivity changed. If the sensitivity is a bit messed up, open "s.ahk" in Notepad and change the "2" near the end to another number. Save it, reload the script, close the game, etc. and try it again.

After you've closed the game, the script will close automatically after a couple seconds and put your sensitivity back to normal. If this second sensitivity is too high/low, open "n.ahk" in Notepad and change the "4" to something different and try again.

It's a bit long-winded especially if you have no idea what you're doing, but the option is there.

Thanks, I'll give it a try once I get back home.

It didn't work unfortunately so I'm probably just going to have to get used to it at this point. Thanks for the help anyway.

Unsure about the new fix, but SilentPatch would've been bound to work had you installed it properly.

Thought so.

What crashing are you getting, Agent_Of_Paranoia? Pressing play does nothing, the game stops responding at a certain point, etc.?

Also it should be noted that SilentPatch doesn't require CLEO, since it's an ASI mod and not a CLEO script.

Also worth noting this specific fix works with a steam version too, although downgrading is always generally a good idea.
