How To Fix Crashing On GTA SA For Windows 10 Users (STEAM VERSION)

1. Go onto your GTA San Andreas folder via steamapps/gtasanandreas and and right click gta-sa (game)

2. Set the compatbilty mode to WindowsME/98 and hit apply (will delete save game)

3. Then click on the data folder in the GTA SA steam folder then click on GTA.dat

4. Enter this IMG MODELS\PLAYER.IMG and hit save

5. Load up GTA SA and set the res to 1024 x 768

6. Taa Daa

NOTES:
DO NOT change CJ's clothes or add anything as the game will crash
Modding the .dat files still work
You will lose your save game (for some odd reason)
Please use frame limiter

Don't even need to put it that low, setting it to something like Windows XP SP2 is good enough but even something as recent as Windows 8 is fine.

I have a Win 10 Pro 20H2 Version and GTA SA keeps crashing after a downgrade. I tried 4 re-installing GTA SA and after each it crashes. In GTA SA I gave only ASI, and Modloader, Cleo, Widescreen, Framerate Vigilante. I tried to turn on the DEP function, I tried to reinstall all the drivers, I tried to diagnose the hard disk. GTA SA crashes constantly. Crash starts when I come to any store or Crash game at the cutscene. Every system add-ons I have installed, always VC-redist, DX 8.0, 9.0, 10, 10,1, 12,1. I had the San Andreas Steam version a year ago, and it didn't crash.
My system is:
Geforce GTX 1080
Core I7 7700K
16 Gb ram Hinx 2133 MHZ
Stored On HDD
I don't get it, something must be missing in that game, either in Data files or in IMG files.

For me, GTA VC works better than SA at the moment

Anyone know what this means ? It says to just click on it, which does nothing, but when I double click on it, it tells me I need another app to open it and I have no idea which one. I have no option to enter or save anything.

Id suggest you downgrade and patch the game.
btw OP is wrong, you CAN play the downgraded version through steam but it is true that some downgrade methonds dont allow for that. If you need help with this let me know and ill try my best to guide you through the process :)

Where are the new save files going? They are clearly not put in the same folder as the ones in your documents folder.

Edit: they are at "C:\Users\Public\Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files"
You can just transfer your user file folder form your documents to this one if you would like. The saves still work.

One thing to note, after crashing at the same point consistently, it didn't crash this time.
