Single player ?

I was thinking of getting this for my 9 year old niece to play. Is it single player, or only co-op?

Its single player, split screen co-op and online co-op. You can choose singleplayer or (online) multiplayer at the start screen. split screen co-op falls under single player mode.

One more question. Is it suitable for a child to play ? I know its done in a cartoon style but that doesnt necessarily mean its suitable. Is there any adult humour, bad language etc ?

its completly kids friendly. it has some "spooky" stuff that u can find (i think 2 missions). but thats it. you can find a water tank who shoots waterballoons. its alot of kids humor.
