How do I find the propeller hat variants?

I looked in the patch-notes and it says 'New propeller hat variants'.

If you already have the propeller hat, then you should also automatically have the variants in your wardrobe.

Huh? Only have the one propeller hat in my private closet... It's ok that way, can't wear more than one anyway ;) Where or how are the variants coming into play? Any reasoning why they are there?
