Lost your Save? Look No Further (Old)

Hello,

I've been getting a few messages mentioning you've accidentally deleted your save file, or that the new update broke your save file, so I'm writing this to hopefully help those in need.

Note: If you accidentally deleted your save usually this would be unrecoverable but if you had this save previously before v0.6.0 and played on v0.6.0 then there is a chance you can recover it.

Step One

First thing first, you need a copy of your old save, this will be the basis of recovering the save file (Don't worry v0.6.0+ made a backup of your save file before we converted to the save slot system), this can be located here

Path: %AppData%\LocalLow\RubberBandGames\Wobbly Life\Save\STEAMID\GameSaves\Backup_Old

Step Two

Make a backup of this folder 'Backup_Old; there are no other backups, so once this goes there is no way of recovering your save

Step Three

Okay so you will want to do the following,

Head to this path Path: %AppData%\LocalLow\RubberBandGames\Wobbly Life\Save\STEAMID\GameSaves

This is the root of all player saves and where we save the slot system,
inside the GameSaves folder you will want to create a new folder called

SaveSlot_1 Note: You can replace the number to any number up to a max of 5

Step Four

Inside the 'SaveSlot_1' folder you will want to copy everything which is inside Backup_Old and paste it in there

Step Five (Important)

Okay now that you have all your old Save files in this folder you will want to do some renaming, as we have changed the layout of our save system

So you will want to replace each file name with the corresponding:

SystemPlayer => PlayerData_1
LocalPlayer_2 => PlayerData_2
LocalPlayer_3 => PlayerData_3
LocalPlayer_4 => PlayerData_4

Step Six

You need one more file which is the SlotInfo.sav

Once downloaded, put the SaveInfo.sav into the '/SaveSlot_1/' folder

Note: You technically don't need this, but if you don't then it will look like the save file is empty, but once you play and exit it will look normal

Step Seven

That's all, launch the game and hopefully you will see your Save

I also trying figure out with new update how I can do my save backup (to another folder) like if they will be gone by some bug or I will just delete them by mistake. If this will happen, with backup I can copy and paste it back. I don't want lose my progress.

Hello, I am not too familiar with computers and am unsure as to where I need to put that "path" in to search for it. My son plays Wobbly Life and loves it, but when he got on to play all his save data was gone and it had the world in slot one starting back at the beginning. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Open “Run” using the key combination [Windows] + [R].
Enter “%appdata%” into the “Open” field.
Press “OK” to open the “Roaming” subfolder in the AppData folder.

Then just follow the path, note you may need to go back one directory so you can get into LocalLow

this does not solve the problem i have. the problem i have is everytime i start a new world and i exit it it does not save which is so annoying with the fact that i got the ufo but i always have to get it over and over again

Hello, could you send me your player.log to [e-mail]
and ill look into it for you

Send Player.log and Player-prev.log

Hi - super helpful as we logged on this morning and back to the beginning. Random! I've had a search and our system hasn't saved a STEAMID/ game save folder.
Only AppData\LocalLow\RubberBandGames\Wobbly Life\Save\76561199157964798\GameSaves\Backup_Old - this file is dated 26/06 so I guess better than nothing. How can I check the STEAM settings to make sure the backup is working?
