Can we eliminate the timers on jobs?
My kids (aged 4 and 7) are playing this, and having a timer on the jobs is both annoying and stressful for them. Even I couldn't complete some of the tasks in the available time.

For a casual game like this, it makes absolutely no sense to make the jobs harder to accomplish by introducing time limits. If you want to reward skilled players, give bonus amounts for jobs "well done" rather than stressing out the kids that are just looking to have a bit of fun. And you can't skip the jobs without missing out of vital parts of the game (buying houses, character customization, etc).

I totally disagree. The time limit

a) defines the amount of money you get. The faster your are, the more you earn. (edit: I am not really sure about this..)

b) forces you to get "better" at what you are doing. For example, the Waste Barrel job: if you use the truck that stands right in the plant, you WILL lose all the barrels or you will be too late. If instead you use a closeable Wobbly Delivery van and drive it right up to the conveyor belt, you can fit > 10 barrels in it, close the van, then drive straight ahead into the pit and make lots of cash.

If you guys really struggle at the pizza job, try practicing a little before giving in, or you will never earn the jetpack ;)

I don't know if WL is aimed towards 4-year-olds (or if 4 years might even be a bit too early to get addicted to video games, but that's another topic). I personally think that WL ist NOT as casual as it looks and that's very fine for me.

If anyone of the devs really thinks of removing the timer, please show this in the host-selection dialog so I can avoid those hosts.

A visible timer is not required to grade player performance. Also, a countdown timer puts an upper limit on the time you can spend trying to solve challenges. A running clock would provide the exact same motivation (be as fast as possible), but in a much more relaxed way.

Challenges could silently end if you leave the area, start a new task, or after a set time without any progress. It'd be much more fitting for a game targeting younger kids.
The running clock is a nice idea, but many of the jobs do not have "an area" but require you to travel all across Wobbly Island, so having the clock automagically stop will not work.

I mean, It's less of removing the timers and more of perhaps setting up easier locations to reach during the time limit or creating two difficulties. The easier difficulty being closer destinations with a generous time limit. (Or setting a difficulty which is just a sand box, do whatever you want with no consequence during jobs.)

I think removing the time limit period will ruin this for older players who love the challenge. The compromise needs to please everyone, not just your 5 year old child.

Wise words. I'd go even further: some games are not meant to be played by 5-year-olds, even if they look like that. And my very personal opinion: 5 year olds should play less with computers and more with things like bikes, rollerskates, balls and the like ;)

I still haven´t heard a single good reason for why the timer has to be a countdown, when a running timer could give the game all of the same benefits. There is literally no downsides to making this change and it will make the game more accessible to a wider audience.

Maybe you should actually read the replies? Especially the ones about "jobs cannot automagically end when you leave the area, because sometimes there IS no area" and "maybe this game is not meant for toddlers".

What about the mining job for example? Would you just let a stopwatch run forever? When would this job end in your opinion? Never? Or when you leave the mine after mining 10.000$ ? This makes absolutely no sense.

Just repeating your opinion does not make it right, you see.

I think timers are just fine. Some jobs take a little practice to get better at, and some have "other" ways like using the delivery van for the toxic waste job. In fact, first time I beat the ambulance jobs that are farther away was using the big cargo helicopter instead of the ambulance.

They need to learn in life things arent win in easy mode , let them try again and again and again !!! :lunar2019piginablanket: " no pain no gain
Honestly, petite is right, young children need to learn to not give up just because of some hardship, while it is good that there be an easy mode, this should limit the amount of money earned, while having a timer increases the earnings, so while the suggestion is good, it would probably come farther down the line, this at least is my point of view.

All the people arguing against this suggestion have no clue what it's like to be 4-6 years old, and clearly lack the empathy to imagine it.
I was that age at a time, and i was given an Nintendo DS, with mariokart, and that game was incredibly hard for me, but little by little i came to master it, although it took time and effort, not just giving up, besides I completely agree with player, at that age children should not spend a lot of time playing videogames.
