Cant hit NPC's
Hi i just tried to play my favourite GTA game, but there's an issue for me. I cant hit npc's limbs and heads with any kind of firearms, my bullets just dont hit enemies. The only way to kill somebody is shoot right in the body center or from very close distance. Melee weapons are ok, i have this bug with guns only. Moreover, i played this game many times (i had retail version, bought it about 8 yrs ago) and i've never experienced this kind of bugs. Is there anyone who has the same problem or knows what i'm talking about/has any ideas. I tried to google it, but didnt find anything useful.

Try playing in a resolution of 1280x768x32 and in wide-screen mode. For some reason with the other resolutions, the crosshairs are way off-target (not properly lined up). But even in that resolution, it can still be tricky to hit anything with accuracy in this game, especially when not in first-person view (maybe it was intentionally made that way?). The sniper-rifle seems quite accurate for me though when looking through the scope (using the resolution I mention above).

For other "fixes" (or for this game to work more stable on newer computers and newer versions of Windows), have the gta-vc.exe file set to run in compatibility mode of Windows98/ME mode, Disable Visual Themes, and run as Administrator (right click on that file in your GTA-VC game's folder, Properties, Compatibility tab to set those options).

In-game, have frame-limiter on. For your graphics-card's control panel, force-on V-sync, you can bump up the other graphic options there as you like, and also set the Threaded option to Off.

After launching the game, if you have a computer with more than 1 core, bring up the task-manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del), on the Processes tab right-click on gta-va.exe, set the Affinities (cores) to just run on 1 core only.

A combinations of doing these things seems to make it run more stable/compatible on my computer (I've a fairly good computer running Windows 7).

It's not intentional... Just a problem with widescreen mode and higher resolutions that were not the norm back then; HUD elements weren't adjusted properly to fit the screen. There are a few mods out there that claim to fix it, but I've found they either don't work for the Steam version of the game or are complicated to install because they require installation of third-party programs. You may find it's easier just to play at a lower resolution that does work, as already suggested.

ty, yes, I play with widescreen 1366x768. This is strange because i've played GTA3 without any issues.
