Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Vice City don't work.
Hi everyone,

After a couple of months, i wanted to play GTA: Vice City but the game just don't start.
I see its exe in the Task Manager just for one second then it disappear. No error messages, no nothing.
I've also checked Windows Event Viewer but there were nothing there too.
I've bought the game through Steam.
What should i do?
Thank you.

O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit

Edit: I've just noticed, I've the same issue on GTA: San Andreas.

Also, I have a different error on GTA: IV, I see the error below on Event Viewer for GTA: IV

Title GTAIV.exe (1, 0, 7, 0) XLive 3.5.0092.0 (WGX_XLIVE_V3.05_RTM(panblder).110928-1730) C:\Windows\system32\xlive.dll

For the GTA IV, try reinstalling Windows Live.
If that doesn't work, then go to your main directory, and delete everything.
But before you do any of that for GTA IV, did you install any recent mods?

Thank you for answer.
Nope. I've didn't install any mods for any games.
Now i'm gonna reinstall Windows Live.

Hi,

I've re-installed Windows Live and GTA: IV problem has solved, thank you for your help :)

My problems with GTA: VC and SA are still there. I've no idea how to solve them as there aren't any error messages or log in the event viewer.

Try running the game exe files for VC & SA in Windows 98 or XP & add them to Windows DEP (data execution prevention).

Some older Rockstar games the ones 'Pre-HD' have trouble running if your screen resoultion is higher than 1024 x 600. Even if you try setting the properties of the game to run in a lower resoultion will not fix this problem sometimes. So before playing Vice City and San Andreas set your screen resoultion to that size or lower then start the game. This is a Windows issue which Rockstar has no control over when newer version of operating systems come about. Thanks I hope this helps, if not I'm happy to assist you.

Try deleting the "gta_vc.set" file in your C:\Users\User\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files folder. It worked for me...Running Win 7 64 bit AMD quad-core
