gta vice city cannot find 640x480 video mode
I've recently made the purchase of the GTA "complete pack" with gta 3, vice city etc etc.

I bought this for my dad, since he's a big fan of the series.

He runs Win8 and everytime he tries to run either GTA - VC or GTA3, it says the error:

"cannot find 640x480 video mode".

I've read ALOT about this error and I know why the error comes, but not how to fix this.

Before any of you begin to talk about compatibillity mode, don't bother, because I've tried every possible combination of this.

List of things I've tried:

- installing patch (which failed, because it is the GTA Steam version)
- Tried downloading a custom gta_vc.set file, set to 800x600 resolution, and 1280x720 and replaced it with the one that comes with the installation.
- I've tried deleting the gta_vc.set file
- I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game
- I even tried downloading a no-cd fix for the game (YES I know it's wrong, but given the fact that I've paid for a game that does not work, I'm willing to try anything) and this did not work either.

So ANY help involving inputs not mentioned above, would be much appreciated.

It should be mentioned that there might be more things I've tried that's not on the list, since I've spent several hours on this most annoying issue.. Way to go steam.!

hmmm well I fixed mine. I went to the properties of Vice city. Then i went to compatiblity. I Set it to run the program in compatibility mode for windows vista. Then i put it to run in 640x480 screen resoloution. Thats all it took for me. I did'nt dowload patches or anything.

This might help a bit http://puu.sh/dWKtb/4e1d1531d7.png :happymeat:
