Cannon Fodder mission crash
Hi there,

I'm doing the Cannon Fodder mission - the one where you and the Cubans fight the Haitians (and their rooftop sniper) in an alley. When you kill the final Haitian in the alley, a cutscene is supposed to trigger in which everybody runs around the corner for the final battle. This is the cutscene I mean (at 3:00): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JTq50aIgjI&feature=player_detailpage#t=178

In my game, however, killing the last Haitian in the alley causes the game to freeze instead of loading the cutscene. This happens every time (I've tried it around 15 times now). The game has to be shut down with Windows task manager. I'm presuming that the trigger loads the big crowd of final gang members, and the game has some problem with loading them.

In any case, the only way for me to progress is to skip this mission. How can I edit my save to flag this mission as complete? I've tried the 'Never-to-Late' savegame editor, but it does not have the ability to edit completed mission status.

Tried verifying the game's cache? What's the EXACT error report when it crashes? III/VC have a tiny exception report dialog upon crashing, you just need to Alt+Tab your way to it.

Thanks, wasn't aware of the exception dialog. I just reran the mission and took a screenshot of the error report. Here it is: : http://i.imgur.com/YZbjG3Z.png

Got it! After trying a million different things, simply deleting gta_vc.set fixed it. Interestingly, it only fixes it for a single attempt of the mission - which is why I might have overlooked it the first time I tried deleting gta_vc.set. In other words: after trying it out and having the cutscene successfully load, I actually got killed by the police on the way back. After retrying the mission, the crash was back again. Luckily, deleting gta_vc.set a second time fixed it again, and I succeeded in the mission that time.

Anyway, if anyone else has had the same issue (juno0258?) - that is what worked. Delete gta_vc.set. If you fail the mission, you might need to keep deleting gta_vc.set each time you re-attempt the mission until you succeed.

Still, that deffo is caused by Vice Cry you have installed.
