Increasing streaming memory above 255MB (or otherwise dealing with slow/non-loading textures)

Hi,

Quite often throughout VC, textures will not properly load - instead only loading the low-res (LOD?) versions. Sometimes they eventually load after a while, sometimes they never do. It can get frustrating when walls and fences don't load, because you crash into 'invisible' barriers.

I've noticed this problem getting worse and worse as I've stressed the game with more stuff. With just Vice Cry and an extended drawdist and loddist, the problem is only a minor annoyance. But now that I've ramped up the vehicle and ped count with VC_traffic (which is awesome, by the way), the problem has become much worse. All my limits are fine according to VCLimitAdjuster (and Vice Cry sets them massively high on install anyway). My guess is that this is governed by streaming memory? The problem is that even VCLimitAdjuster cannot set it any higher than 255MB. If I understand correctly, VC's engine is physically capable of having a streaming memory value of at least up to 1024MB - I just don't know how to set it as such. Does anyone know how?

If I'm wrong about streaming memory being the cause, does anyone know what else I can do to combat texture 'slowding'? Obviously lowering some of my settings (e.g. VC_traffic ones, loddist, drawdist) would do it. However, I'm trying to find a way to fix the texture issues whilst still keeping those benefits.

You must get a gta-vc.exe with better memory limits.

If use steam:

1- Backup original gta-vc.exe and testapp.exe steam version.

2- Copy the downloaded gta-vc.exe and overwrite gta-vc.exe steam version.

3- Rename the downloaded gta-vc.exe to testapp.exe and overwrite testapp.exe steam version.

4- Set DEP for both gta-vc.exe and testapp.exe to fix "Unhandled Exception error".
