How do I save in Vice City?

I've read online I have to save at the starting hotel, where the pink cassette icon is, but I cannot find my way back there using the city map. How do I get save points to show up on the map so I can easily navigate to them?

By pausing the game (Escape key), you can access to the map of the city. The same pink cassette icon indicates places where you can save (you can toggle a legend of the map in case you're not sure what an icon is). The hotel you're looking for is along the long street at the South-East of the map, you can enter it by going through the open door at the entrance of the hotel, the saving icon should be near the front desk. You unlock this save point by passing the first mission of the game.

As you progress throughout the game, you will unlock more icons and more places to save. Some are automatically added after a specific mission while other can be bought across the city. The one you can buy are represented by a green house pickup, walk through it to know how much the save point costs, or you're willing to buy it.
