still worth getting?
I am playing San Andreas and loved vice city, but seeing as how this is even older I was wondering if it is still worth getting?

I'm actually working through it now after buying the Rockstar package a couple of years back and only have a couple of missions left. Definitely brings back a lot of memories and is imo still worth playing. Some of the missions are great fun and remain as well scripted as they ever were. Graphically (not that you're going to be playing it for the eye candy) it's within the ballpark of VC and SA. It also runs well for me and I personally haven't come across any bugs or experienced a single crash (Vista 64, gtx 560 ti, 4gb ram).

With that said - upon first starting the game it's quite surprising to learn that you can't pan the camera with the mouse while driving. You'd be forgiven for taking a feature like that for granted, even on a 10+ yr old game. But alas, it just isn't there. However you do quickly get used to it. After 10, 12 missions I didn't even think about it anymore and just used the keyboard when necessary. On foot feels great and totally natural from the start.

Great thanks for the feedback. I don't care too much about the graphics so long as the game play is fun. How big is the word compared to VC?

humm... hard to say given the different shapes but they're (GTA3 & VC) comparable. I expect the figures are out there somewhere but as far as impressions go - it certainly doesn't feel too small (there's 3 islands in total) and I still get briefly lost now and again, though not often these days.

oh I was expecting it to be much smaller- that's good news!

Thanks for the replies- I'm convinced and actually quite excited to get it now- enjoyed the others a lot, so sure I will love it.

it seems big at first but liberty city isa easy city to learn, you will get the hang of it. For practice you could try playing psp or ps2 gta liberty city storys, same exact city that in gta3.

Its a fun game. The map size is about the same as VC but divided into 3 islands. There is no in game map, but it's easy to memorize the routes due to the map being smaller and simple. Liberty City stories will have almost the same map, but only like 5% change between those two games. :)

Awesome. I got it for my nexus 7 for like $1. It's a bit more difficult to control. but so far so good. More of the same.

Worth it just for the radio stations IMO.

For me GTA III holds up perfectly! its defenitly a good deal to buy it! not only for the gameplay but for the nostalgia too.

Grand Theft Auto III plays much like Vice City in a lot of ways. The only big problem I ever had with GTA III was the camera, always fighting with it to get it to look where I wanted too, but to be fair I was using a controller and this wasn't a problem with the keyboard and mouse.

I played GTA2 and San andreas (old retail CD) long time ago but i recently bought the GTA full package, man i enjoy GTA 1/2/3 as i enjoy San andreas, it's new experience.
Get it it's an awesome game, you know the newer games are not just new graphics it's different gameplay also so you might like it better :)
