And if you compare Resident Evil 1, original, remake and remaster. You can tell this is good. So maybe problem is they should have went for a remake and then a remaster

But yeah. I haven`t played Resident Evil yet. But I bet it`s a great game. Might buy it some day.
Its also funny that sometimes technical difficulties can lead to a better game overall. Like having fade cause old Consoles & PCs couldnt render the whole world. (Silent Hill 1 fog for example, a genius thing) It fits for the aesthetics.
DE you could see the whole map which heavily destroys the immersion. You feel like you are in a actual sandbox ,seeing the corners around it. The rain also doesent do any favors, simply unpolished. Someone just added it.
I also heavily dislike the lightning and their new coloring in DE, some could argue its more realistic but i prefer games where i actually see things even when it is supposed to be pitch dark outside.
Thats another thing about modern games they put too much emphasis for shadows and lightning at the expense of the players vision. Leading that the majority of new games look really terrible and similar, especially at night time scenery.
Where a flashlight is always a must...While simplistic solutions like adding a dark blue filter is much more appealing and enjoyable even when it is unrealistic.
Games are a form of entertainment, way too much focus is put that the game must have realism from a gameplay perspective and visuals when the average player would just like the game to be fun. There is a reason a plumber jumps like Kobe Bryant.
Have you tried the GTA 3 Definitive Edition mod? It provides a substantial graphical improvement without sacrificing the original bleak setting of the game. As well as a number of other improvements like the Silent Patch, PS2 model vehicles, San Andreas controls, controller compatibility, map mod, etc. Best part is that it's free.
You can find it here: https://www.definitive-edition-project.com/iii-de
It keeps the game the same, but just makes it better.
But I prefer PC version of GTA 3 over the definitive edition.
AAAND: The official Definitive Edition has cut some music out due to expired licenses. This one is gold, brings back all the memories!
So for me, defo the original with DE mod instead of official DE version.
