Grand Theft Auto III

Anyone else can't move the camera on the classic version?
I've recently downloaded the classic version of the Trilogy (if you brought it before that awful remaster you can still download it) and I simply can't move the camera around in all of the 3 games, but specially, in III (that's why I'm asking here). If I set the affinity of the game for CPU0 the camera moves fine when I'm on foot, but it locks up again when I get inside a vehicle.

Does anyone else had seen that?

Complementary info: System runs Windows 10 version 20H2 and has a 8-core CPU.

Thankfully since this is the PC version not only do you already have access to the much superior 'Standard' control, but you can also mod it to make it more comfortable.

The LCS/SA Vehicle Cam mod lets you move the cam freely in cars which would fix your issue.

It's meant to be that way. You have to look around with button prompts. Classic GTA 3 is rigid like that. No free camera in cars.

Good to know. Since that's a feature in both SA and VC, maybe I'd ask on their forums. Thanks!

Classic Axis mod lets you look around your character. It's a big buggy though, since when you use the sniper scope or rocket launcher scope, it'll sometimes bug and won't fire the weapon, while getting your character stuck in a frozen animation until you either jump or manage to fire again. But unless you like sniping a lot or destroying cars with RPGs, it won't bug out or bother you in any other way.

It does have the default camera view closer to the ground though, so if you drive a Banshee for example, you won't see past it when climbing hills because it'll be low and right behind the car. It's only a problem when driving though. On foot, you can see more of your character. And it lets you rotate it whether walking or driving. It will go back to its original position though when you let go of the right thumbstick.

I wouldn't recommend Classic Axis. There's a small script plugin that requires CLEO and probably 1.0 EXE that allows you to move the camera around. Vehicle Camera Movement or something. But if it's too much of a hassle then yeah, buying the Demaster is an option.

The Defective Edition is NOT an option... well at least not until around 20 good patches come out for it.

Anyway this is a great option for the vehicle camera if Classic Axis is acting up:

I recommend the LCS one, fits GTA 3 obviously.

You can use mods that fixes the camera. But, almost all mods that does that makes impossible (or very hard) to use the Sniper Rifle or the Rocket Launcher.

SaCarCam asi script works really great and doesn't require CLEO. Suggested.
Works only while in cars, but as iggy Wolf pointend out, the other script for moving the camera around (classic axis) is really bugged.

Maybe I'd try it out if the fixed camera bothers me too much. Thanks :)

Ps2 version didn't have that.

Maybe you saw Liberty city stories.(Since that one had this feature while being on the same city as GTA 3)
