Maybe now is a bit dated but when it was released in 2001 it was incredible. I remember playing the game on my PS2 just to wandering around, provoke the cops and try to lose them, or just looking at the day/night cycle and walking while listening to the ambient sound.
I totally feel that. I love immersing myself in open world games. I have GTA 3 on the PS2 also but for some reason I never played it (too busy playing Jak 2/3 and Timesplitters). I must say that driving in GTA 3 feels really good and I also like how on PC, I can add my own MP3 player station.
