Grand Theft Auto III

Is there a mod to add more map icons to the radar?
I've only started this game recently, and I'm frustrated b/c I don't know where stuff is. Being able to easily locate stuff like health pickups, the gun shop, and repair garages would make the game a whole lot better in my opinion. As it currently stands it feels like I'd have to study the the in game geography and commit the locations I listed above to memory to simply be able to complete certain missions. That just doesn't seem like a fun way to spend my time. As someone trying to newly get into the GTA series and bought a bunch of the GTA games in a bundle, I'm hopping the other games have more developed maps.

Hello!
I agree with you that GTA III has really big issues about giving you indications, or marking important locations because it doesn't have an in-game overview of the city (and icons on the radar are missing).

Fortunately, if you play the next GTA games (Vice City, San Andreas...) the map is marked with every useful icons you'll need like gunstores, Pay'n'Spray... so you won't be annoyed about that (plus you'll be able to see the whole city in the menu).

Finally, you can find a complete map of Liberty City from the collector edition of GTA III on Google, it gives the location of gang districts and important buildings you'll see through the game (I don't play with mods so I don't know any of them to add icons on the radar, sorry).

You'll get used to it no time, the map is really small and you'll find that you only use a certain select streets to get around anyway. Other games expand the map markers, but I'd wager given the small map sizes they don't even need that many.

There is nothing wrong with committing a map to memory, we do it for real places that are much bigger and complex. It's no biggie, it becomes instinct in where everything is and not really with repeat playthroughs either. First time round you should more or less learn where everything is, you can't really get lost in combination with its limited size. Each island usually has only one of what it needs...you know one pay and spray, one police station, one bomb shop and so on and on so on.

As for map marker mods, I don't know of any as I have never looked. There's a few mod sites for the game, GTA Garage might have something. GTA 3 mods aren't as numerous as for the other GTA games though so the chances of there being one I dunno really.

I have a completely different experience in that game, when I go to the garage or get out outside it, I go to the door instead of the door staying open, they stay closed, that's the problem, I don't know why, I don't understand what's wrong, that's the problem
