GTA III necessary mods
What are the necessary mods to play GTA III, other than SIlent Patch and Controller Support? Particularly if wanting to play in HD.

What about textures in-game, as well as visuals?

The Xbox version of the game has the best graphics than PC and PS2 combined.

There's also a natural HD mod that would make your city nicer:

To get proper widescreen for the game:

And also these guides helped me get the optimal experience of playing GTA 3:

Sweet, that's what I'm talking about :) Gonna purchase the game right now... Any other mods I should get?

I'm going to play this again - I quitted playing this in PS2 because of my neighbor deleting my saved files :steamfacepalm: I was only 1 package left at that time

That's all I know to get the most optimal experience of GTA III.
If you want more mods, I suggest you browse to these two websites:

http://gtaforums.com/forum/281-gta-mods/

You should also check this website in case of any issues or improvements you might've missed:

(The website itself is quite useful when troubleshooting classic retro games.)

Why the hell do you needs mods? You just need Silent Patch to get the game working properly.

If OP asked for something that wants to visually improve the game:

I'll say give him what he wants.

While SilentPatch definitely helps fixes many bugs in the game while also adding an abundance of effects from the PS2 version, why should I leave the game as it is when knowing the fact that there's a fix for widescreen resolutions (scaling the HUD and FOV instead of being stretched), couple of mods that restores the features of what the PS2 version has that PC doesn't, and a fiix that would make cars bright again (Why do you find it acceptable for very dark cars appearing in the game? It's a freaking bug No, forget what I said. I just realised how stupid and dickish that sounds, sorry for mindlessly accusing you).

You don't understand me, I'm fine with bug fixing and widescreen fixes, I just don't see the potentional in playing the game if you're gonna change the textures and ♥♥♥♥ because you might then as well go play a newer game.
I don't "find it acceptable for dark cars to appear in the game" that's why I recomment Silent Patch because that fixes that.
Now if only the game could handle more than 30 FPS...

The concept is like playing Dark Souls without DSFix and sweetfx. You get to appreciate the game more (personally) with better visuals. Also, remastered versions (visually), same concept.

tries to remap controls; can't map 90% of buttons. Install controler support mod; game crashes on startup. ♥♥♥♥ pc.

The newest Xbox mod is definitely the way to go - you'll get improved visuals without changing the original feel of the game.
