Is anyone rating this badly actually playing?
some snippets from reviews that make me think otherwise

"" There's no HP meter for the bosses ""
"" You can't remap controls ""
"" It's too easy ""
"" Gamepad doesn't work ""

Just a few things I'm reading, and of course none of these people have comments enabled, otherwise there'd be people telling them just how wrong they are.
Bosses without a boss meter? okay?

Or people complaining there's no reloading your guns? Or the blessed gun approach

so..you're akways moving up ( most of the time, some pit stops are stationary ) but here's the issue, where would you even find guns in this setup? How would you get more ammo?
And what would stop you from getting a great gun, and then never changing it since there's no ammo/?

Nobody thinks of this, they just go ' It's not identical to enter the gungeon, so it's a bad game...despite my ignorance in not reading a thing about it, or on the store page where they tell you everything you need know"

Saw a kid complaining lack of reloading, and this is apparently enough to refund the game...only they have 3.5 hours in it, gave it a bad review, and " hope their refund goes through "

what is wrong with the kids on this market/
You put out a crappy hentai game for 50 cents with no work, and they love it, recycled t the end of time, always the same cheap " game "

and then we have a miracle of a game that never wouldve been on steam actually getting a release, but since everyone had their heads up their butts for the last year, they forgot this game was an Apple Arcade exclusive, which one eviewer took advantage to cal it " a mobile game "
well, sure technically correct...but an iPhone " mobile game " looks liek a very good pc pixel art game, have you SEEN the Shantae game on it? It'c PC level quality lol.

It's just an easy way to NEG on the game " it's MOBILE PORT " sure feels right on pc, looks right, runs right... doesn't resemble a mobile game?

cheers.
Steam's community never fails to make me sick lol

It was just different enough to feel fresh and exciting, but still staying true to Enter. To be fair, I loved blessed runs in Enter to begin with. I get to use every gun in a single run? AND see the cool, fun effects my items have on each weapon? Sign me up. Plus, it forced my to focus on my gameplay skill instead of relying on OP guns.

I do understand where these people are coming from, though. I would be disappointed if I was expecting an Enter clone the size of a full game and I got something different the size of a spin-off. However, just because it's different doesn't make it a bad game. Just because it's smaller doesn't mean it's shallow. There is depth to this game that people will never see because they get frustrated with changing guns making it more difficult. From what I can tell, people are looking at the surface, not interacting with the NPCs or trying to unlock anything and calling it shallow. Just... delve into a bit more. It's got the charm and fun interactions that were in the first game. You just need to actually look for it.

I hope people will revisit and give it a true chance. They've got some really great things planned for future updates.

I agree with your criticisms of reviews that are downright false but you're making excuses in your real points. Stuff like "where would you find ammo/guns" like make more pitstops per level or have them as drops like health (which are far too random as it is) just use a bit of imagination, none of this stuff was designed the ultimate correct way like you're defending it. Enter the Gungeon still had times when you'd get a good gun and basically stick with it all run, it wasn't a problem then, the real reason you can't switch guns is because this is just a different game and they clearly want it to be more arcadey.
And you may have negative impressions when you think "mobile port" but that's literally what it is so that's on you. I understand you're really chuffed that it came out on Steam at all but impotently raging about some reviews isn't gonna make them change their minds. Especially calling them "kids" it doesn't make you look smarter parroting generic gamer insults like that.

ithought about it, but no. You COULD make guns drop. you COULD make enemies drop ammo. you COULD make your gun never change

you COULD also just play ETG, which is what you're expecting in terms of gameplay.
this is not etg, lol.

in fact if you added all that junk I wrote in the game now? it would be pretty bland and run of the mill. also, I htink the game is chaotic enough ithouth adding MORE clutter in the form of guns you'l never have time to stop and see what they do, or ammo you would have to curry around liek a 3 legged rat to collect WHILE also not dying/ yes, these are all great additonas to the game, it's not quite hctic enough as -is

which leads most ppl to assume a bad reviewer has no clue abotu the game...cuz they tend to play for under 20 minutes, and then leave a review as if they made the game.

cheers.

PS ( i don't buy the " i own it on switch, so I'm complaining here on steam about it ) excuse.
that's literally child's play.

and to clear up why saying " mobile port " as if it's a bad thing
https://www.reddit.com/r/EnterTheGungeon/comments/d336ms/a_note_from_dodge_roll_about_exit_the_gungeon_xtg/

TL;DR:

Spin-off, not sequel.

Timed exclusive to Apple Arcade.

Mobile game only insofar as that it is also releasing on mobile.

Full controller support on all platforms.

Post-launch content, like Gungeon.

Fast-paced, difficult, pun-filled, stupid, in traditional Gungeon style.

New songs.

Enjoy such new bosses as the “Buffammo” and the “Meowitzer”.

Werehats. Wear Hats.

Heartfelt thanks for continued support and understanding.

Feel free to ask any questions, we’ll answer anything we can.

^ this is straight from the devs.
And was posted well before launch, even on Apple Arcade.
Seeing all the things they thought of, considered for a new style of game, and all y'all are sill whining it ain't etg2.
which is why i say kids, and try not to get offended by that term, anyone younger than me is a kid to me, and I'm not ancient - but It's just how I talk. The only time a person gets offended by being called a kid , is if they ARE a kid. Food for thought.

first reply I've seen that actually made me smile.
I'm by no means an ETG pro, or devout fan - the game speed just didn't gel with me, the game is far too slow, the runs take forever, and the RNG is brutal when you combine all that time lol.

I was on the fence with this one, but I was checking out the updates, and I read the mega reddit post about their current/future plans, and I'm pretty stoked.

personally, I like this game idea - side scrolling-ish gameplay woth 360 degree gun aim and fancy jumping !
not many games do this!
and some of them are gone, like Featherpunk Prime, one of my faves.
Reminds me of bleed with more focus, revrse downwell ( and they HAVE DOWNWELL BOOTS IN THE GAME :D ) and I always enjoyed a vertical game, it's a weird interest I have, liek Hell Rising, a veritcal roguelite with tons of charm - love it.

Tower climb too! I;m into vertical style games ( maybe that's why i love mario 2, i always was fond of vertical game design, it's not done enoguh! )

I saw a guy giving it a negative review after playing for literally 18 minutes. 18 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes.

The game has a lot of flaws. When I originally played it, the sheer RANDOMNESS is what absolutely turned me off. It's not "harder," it's just more utterly random. You can have an easy run where you get all the best guns right when you need them - that aspect of luck is no different than in Enter the Gungeon. However, it's less fun and feels less in the player's control, which most players simply are not interested in experiencing in ANY game. Nobody wants to deal with the only weapon available to them constantly changing at random times between ridiculously OP guns and ridiculously weak ones, sometimes dictating a run just because of a few 30 second intervals of very bad or very good luck. Enter the Gungeon has more structure and is simply a better game - additionally, the balance of enemies and upgrades felt very poor on release of Exit the Gungeon. Oh, and modifiers are less frequent and harder to get, which just strips another layer of excitement from the game (watching yourself power up as your items and guns interact in crazy ways).

Supporting these points, I notice upon playing Exit the Gungeon again that the game's difficulty has been dramatically lowered and a new game mode has been added to address the overwhelmingly negative reception the game initially had. It is now no longer a completely RNG arcade game, because simply put, that's awful game design that basically nobody wants to play. You people are in a minority in terms of what is considered enjoyable in a videogame, get over it. This game was never harder than Enter the Gungeon and now it is undoubtedly easier, it has much less content even after all this time, and it's unsatisfying to play because in the end your main weapon is randomized and you get less items to augment it and add that personal touch an average player loves so much.

As someone said before, it is an arcade game. And arcade games have gone out of style for a reason.
