Not really. I've watched and read a few reviews and people trash the game for the 'random Kraken attacks.
Yeah. Sometimes I have to pay close attention to see if any fish will jump up out of the water.
Yeah, yeah, I know what you mean. I've had that happen to me without the unsaved crash.
So, you admit that the kraken can be a bit random LOL
I love this game, having a lot of fun, but I agree in that having the kraken indication be no where on screen and then suddenly appear when you're trying to finish combat or loot can add a frustration to the mix. It's not game-breaking though, at least in my opinion
What I mean is that theirs always going to be that pool of water bubbling on the surface. The bubbling water may just sometimes spawn at random under your ship. The Kraken spawning on the map is random, but it doesn't just attack your ship at random. You have to watch out for the bubbling water. I hope this helps.
I've given up on the game. I reached level 30 and I feel I've seen all there is to the game. I find that there's a lack of interesting or unique loot. What I've noticed is that it's all the same but different rarity types. Bigger ships don't seem to make a difference because they don't deal damage based on how many canons you have. The map design is boring because it's based on an invisible grid pattern. The ports get boring because they all look the same and don't have any memorable features. The characters are repetitive. The story seems to be one fetch quest to another to progress. The game feels like a mobile game. I'm happy to see a roadmap for this game because this isn't a bad game, it just lacks the interesting quality of life features.
I like the ship combat and getting new loot, but after a while, I wasn't finding anything interesting. It became repetitive.
I do disagree on the mobile game comment though. If you're playing mobile games like this, they must be pretty awesome. I haven't played games on mobile in years, so I can't say how mobile games are these days, but from my experience I don't really see this as a mobile game... more like an indie game with a lot of room for improvement and additional features/functions.
With there being so few games that have gameplay similar to this, I am happy with what I've experienced thus far, and look forward to diving back in for more. I am also one of those sick individuals that likes achievements, so I do enjoy aiming for those during gameplay as well.
Good call!
when the game decides to place things on the sea, like loot, barrels, krakens, it doesn't care where the player is and i've seen it happen at least 4 times where a kraken is then spawned next to me.
in this case, the thing attacks instantly before the splashing visual effect can even render.
i think this is what gets some people and why the confusion.
sadly i'm not a streamer/tuber so i don't have a recording setup to capture these events.
