How to upgrade to new ship!!

Hi...I am currently using the first ship i was given when i first started the game.
I am now at level 21 and i l also have enough money to get the next ship which costs around 30000.
When i go to get it..its locked!!! Why is this?? Am i missing something????

Writing from my phone;
Do the main storyline missions.
Eventually the game will force you to buy a Flute.
Once purchased; all other ships are unlocked, as well, so you can purchase’em at will (if you can afford them $$).
PS! Luckily; the quest to unlock ships is actually really, really early in the game, so you won’t have to wait too long if you dip into the storyline a little.
