Monster Truck Championship vs Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 Peformance
I bought Monster Truck Championship and Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 yesterday in the Steam sales.

Both games are very good and both run on Unreal Engine 4. However, the performance on my PC with Monster Truck Championship on maxed out 1440p settings is awful. The games nevers maxes out either the CPU or the GPU, the latter of which remains in the 20-40% range but yet the framerates in the races only seem to be in the 40-50 fps range. I have a G-SYNC display but the game feels incredibly choppy to play. I found that I can get smooth performance but only if I cap the framerate at 40 fps.

In comparison, Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 on the same maxed out 1440p settings runs at 90-120 fps during most events and only dips to the low 70s fps during hectic race events with several trucks on-screen. This game always feels smooth to play even with an unlocked framerate and G-SYNC.

The difference is night and day between both games and while I actually prefer Monster Truck Championship, the performance is so bad in the races that it is putting me off playing it.

Is anyone else having this problem? Visually both games look very similar and, obviously, so is the gameplay so I am baffled as to why there is such a difference in how the games run. Is Monster Truck Championship just poorly optimised?

I am using the latest 516.xx driver from NVIDIA by the way for my RTX 3080 graphics card and my PC is running the game from an SSD on Windows 10 v21H2 64-bit.

Incidentally, I actually tried lowering the settings in Monster Truck Championship to the lowest possible preset - Low - and setting the resolution scaling to 20% (so the game was rendering at 512x288 instead of 2560x1440) and, incredibly, the game STILL could NOT run above 60 fps in the races!!! The same track had regular dips to below 60 fps and to the low 50s fps throughout the 3-lap race!

There is something seriously wrong with the performance in this game if the difference between maxed out 2560x1440 and low 512x288 is less than 10 fps...

I have the same problem too and it makes me not want to play it because it always feels like slow motion having the game chug along when it should be playing no issue.
Not to necrothread but that's what you get when you have an Indie dev vs a legitimate established dev (Rainbow)

MTC microstutters constantly. It was poorly optimized
