Constant Crashing

Game is constantly crashing on startup. I see "loading" in the bottom right and then a distorted screen for a few seconds until the screen goes completely black, at this point the menu music begins but the screen is forever stuck on a black screen, tabbing out just crashes the game, I get an error report.

This happens maybe 9 out of 10 times until it, seemingly randomly, eventually opens correctly.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
