Thanks for the tip - looks to be a sequel to Rogue State.

Hopefully it's more in-depth than Rogue State - that game had a lot of promise, but ultimately it was far too simplistic and gamey. Mainly annoyed at having a number of potential minister positions, but you couldn't assign all of them! Or the fact that your intelligence services were so inept it would take them forever just to find out something that was probably printed in the news. Or the bizarre mechanic where the Government pays to import stuff, so it's available for use by your country - in the form of bonuses (as opposed to, I don't know, actually having the companies that use the product actually pay for it...).

I liked how you had to give your dodgy brother a post, and he would use that post against you - that was interesting.

But yeah, if they've learnt their lessons from their first game, this could be promising...

I hope that Chickenistan makes it into this game as well... ;)

I actually went into this game from a game in the same genre, that being Crisis in the Kremlin.

That game isn't really "similar" at all, it's an entirely different genre.

Yeah, the setup might be somewhat similar, but the approach to the subject is very different. It's more of a numbers-oriented game, not unlike the Democracy games, with explicit budget adjustment, military unit control etc, plus the whole rogue-lite "losing is part of the loop to improve" approach.

Going back to Democracy 4 after Suzerain feels wrong to me lol

Oh, didn't realise they added rogue-like elements to the sequel. That's a bit lame.

It does seem they did away with the pseudo-adventure style of the first one (although that too was less narrative than Suzerain as well).

To be exact, i don't actually know for sure if they did -- this is just something that they seem to strongly imply with their game trailer, with its Groundhog Day framing. Guess we'll find out in two days.

Rouge State; Rev is an RTS game with lots of micro management
Suzerain is an RPG

Two different games entirely
