Economy?
What do I have to do to improve it? It seems spastic.

-Go with a fully free market, privatize everything: education, health and the state companies
-give tax break to big companies (unsure if this actually helps but i did it)
-keep a very close eye on your budget, NEVER let it go below -7, because at -8 Sordlands credit score will be lowered and that is basically game over from the economy side
-close trade deals with Agnolia and Lespia (i suppose Valgsland would work too)
-Join ATO (or CSP i guess)
-remember the fact that, even though the economy meter may not reflect it at all times, ALL your decisions matter.
-Dont do the second infrastructure project, its not worth it
-Be careful when signing laws, some of them, usually the good ones, have a budget cost attached to them
-dont always listen to your ministers, all of them, even the better ones, have their own opinions and political affiliations, and sometimes they dont know whats best in a given situation or decision (example: Ciara Walda and privatization)

Responding to the #12, attracting immigration is not about being a globally wealthy country, but a relatively wealthier (and peaceful one) relative to your neighbours. Indonesians seek work in Malaysia, a middle-income nation, for that reason. And availability of labour is almost always a positive economic factor. Even when European unemployment levels hit its post-2008 peak, immigrants continued arriving and on recovery, provided a big labour boost
Malaysia is growing big time, how does it relate to a country like sordland?
Immigration and unemployment lead to angrier people and lower paychecks thus lower labour costs, which could mean more competitive business.

Immigrants help lower wages and fight unions
The game's portrayal of immigration isn't simplistic. Immigration being on the whole good for the economy has to do with Sordland's particular geographic position. Sordland's Agnland region borders Angolia and is predominately Angolian (hence it's name) and Angolians naturally move to and invest in that region. This generates business activity and tax revenue for Sordland. This relationship is discussed at length and is a crucial part of any trade deal with Angolia. When Symon says the immigration picture is nuanced but on the whole it's a net positive, it's no doubt largely (though not entirely) because of Angolian immigration.

The game also identifies illegal and guest worker immigration as a source of depressed wages - the Oligarchic Underhall construction company is identified as exploiting these immigrant workers and the Assembly tries to pass a national labor bill that requires all immigrants to be paid the same wages as citizens (a bill supported by both the Socialist Independents and their hated enemies the National Front Party). Furthermore, restricting immigration does appear to lower social tensions in the country, so the restrictionists aren't inventing a problem when they say it's causing national unrest. If unrest gets too high you can have uprisings that damage the economy (though you have to be doing a fair degree of unpopular stuff for that to happen).

Lastly, if you cut education funding you decrease government support for higher education and R&D, and you will find your most talented students going abroad for work and study and this is very much a bad thing for Sordland.
