If you introduce workers rights, you have to bail Taurus out with -1 economy because they overrun the budget.

I'm not quite sure how it is if you don't bring in the workers act.

I went with taurus and then vetoed workers rights there have been strikes and they are taking a long time to finish

I also chose Taurus, and even though the project got delayed because of workers rights, it worked out in the end. Don't know if it always does that. Maybe I was just lucky.

That's a shame.

Under planned Economy, going with Sord Construction for the roads also has a -1 penalty for being outdated in their construction methods, but you could also sack/warn the people in charge for causing delays.

I've not picked them for the train though - same with Underhill. Be funny if Underhill is the best route.

It is, other two are always lacking in accuracy and quality.

Sord Construction you will have to pay additional for the road but once you have done that they complete other projects without cost over runs.

I also went state-owned but I didn't pay more; instead I fired their entire management staff because their description suggests that their management is corrupt, and replaced them with a new staff. It delayed the project for a year but they still got it done and they did the next major infrastructure project without any problems. I also pushed through the Worker Rights legislation and it didn't seem to affect them.

SSC: pay $$
Taurus: pay $$, or pay $ and end up late
Underhill: pay $, end of story

Don't know about you folks, but the choice seems pretty obvious. Unless you're okay with opening late to save money.

Nah it isn't Management although they are probably corrupt it is the lack of modernisation. They complete the project on schedule until they arrive at technical obstructions.

Free market underhall completes it with no delay or needing more money.

I decided to go for the highway so this might be a little different for the railway. I chose Taurus. Your decision on the workers rights bill plays into the outcome. I originally vetoed the bill which caused strikes which halted the construction, but the game gave me an opportunity to pass the bill to solve the strike issue, which I took. The project finished on time and it didn't cost me anything.

Underhall is the "best" option but I think if you introduce worker rights, Taurus and Underhill both get into trouble.

Um what? How is Underhall the best??? I've never tried them since I refuse to deviate from the planned economy, but the UI says they cost extra, and their description in the codex clearly indicates their terrible workers rights record. Plus, if they were a good choice, Tusk wouldn't feel like he needed to try to bribe the president to have them chosen.

Went with Underhall and aside from paying extra at the start there weren't any problems. Thought for sure they'd complain and ask for more after pushing through workers rights but that surprisingly wasn't the case.
Refused the bribe from Tusk too which led to some slightly amusing dialogue the next time you see him.

I have not ever awarded it to Underhall, but this makes sense. Why? Because the game heavily implies that Underhall is already ignoring the labor laws that already exist. So of course they don't ask for more money if you make a worker's right bill: they are ignoring those laws already, they will ignore that one. The workers do not strike because there is no union.

Meanwhile, Taurus will strike, because it's explicitly said Taurus uses union work and honestly complies with all labor laws, so they need more money to bring their practice up to standard. And if you veto the law... well, the Taurus workers aren't stupid. They'll gladly strike on the government project to force the issue. And they have the power because they have the union.
