Gears are what they are. when you go slower you use one thats lower. when your going faster you use one thats higher.
You never use 1st gear when you are riding tracks like motocross or supercross. mainly 2nd and 3rd gear for a Sx track.
same for motoX but there are sometimes straights and hills that makes you wanna go 4th or 5th gear.
The real benefit to using manual is when it comes to jumps. The power you get from your lower gears is what makes you able to accelerate consistently into jumps. - because you are in full control and able to make full use of the gear.
If you play with auto, the game is gonna upshift your bike in situations where you dont want, or need to.
