Is it me, the game or the bikes?
So going through the career and am still stuck riding 125s or 250s and I hate it because most of the time I cannot land jumps properly while the bots can. I always fall a bit short. I use both preloads. 250 2 strokes and 450s seem to do jumps completely fine but that's if I can get enough traction to quickly build up speed. It's like the tracks are more suited to the larger bikes.

Maybe it's the way I tune my bikes? I have them mostly setup for acceleration, handling and traction. I'm also finding the bikes lack a lot of traction at very low speeds even though I equip my bikes with full grip tyres and power for acceleration.

So you use seat boost in combination with pre load. Left toggle and right toggle? Is that what you mean? Seat boost loses forward momentum to give you more height.

Yes, I use both. It's a habit from playing the previous games having to use both thumbsticks to preload. I see the bots make jumps too easy. What's the best use for either styles?

You probably already know this, but...

As you go up the face of a jump, pull back on both sticks on your controller. Just before you leave the face of the jump, not after you leave, let go of the left stick (there's no need to push it all the way forward) and this will "pop" the bike up into the air more than if you did nothing at all. Once in the air, you can push and hold the right stick forward to lean the rider's weight over the bars for more distance. If you lean too long, however, you'll go into a nose dive.

can you explain the best use cases for preload, seat boost and both combined? i usually use both combined but always fall a bit short on large nationals jump.

Just a learning curve to it, also you need to get the bike upgraded then use hard suspension, low traction(slippery tires), high clutch boost, flexible chassis, high accelleration. Should get you into a faster looser riding style that will make it easier to clear jumps and rail berms.

I agree with Camel, it's mainly practice.

On SX I usually only need the seat bounce (left stick) to get enough height to clear everything. I don't usually use any right stilck. But, on MX, I use both to clear the really big stuff.

BTW, you can redo the tutorial on the use of the left/right stick for jumps by going to the starting line of the track right behind your bike shop in the Compound area of the game (offline). There are four tutorial areas to drive your bike onto right at the start gate (last I checked anyway).

OMG, I've been using the sticks wrong this whole time.

I've tried doing the jump tutorials a few times but the text never shows up.

On a lot of the older MX games (Unleashed, Reflex, MCM2, etc.) it was all about pulling back and slamming the sticks forward as you left the jump. This one is different, and better in that regard, IMO.

If you have Discord and want to mess around online with this game, I'm willing to help you out. Start by sending me a friend request in Steam and we'll go from there. If not, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it with enough practice.

BTW, I'm on U.S. Eastern Time.
