Pixel Studio - best pixel art editor

Frame #0 contains more than 256 colors.
So I built an animation on the android version on my phone. It gives this message everytime I try to save this one project as a gif. I built a palette with as few as 10 colors, and applied it to the animation. It still gives this message. I finally applied one of the pre-built 4-color palettes. It works. I mean, my artwork is ruined with only 4 colors, but at least it saves.

I tried a second time to make an animation, with the same base graphics. This time it would save when I applied even a 12 color palette. I can't recreate the problem on either Android or PC version. Why is this happening? How do I fix it?

OK, so I found a workaround:

My animation was built in multiple layers that I moved and turned on or off as needed. I went back through all of the frames in my animation, deleted any layer that was turned off in any frame, and merged the remaining layers together.

If I had to guess, the layers that weren't active, weren't getting their palette updated correctly. Or there's some sort of unspecified limit on layers. ...I can't imagine it would be the latter.

Hope this helps anyone who runs into the same problem!
